I was given a nerve killing injection at neath port talbot hospital by lona Collins on the 18 November 2015 .she was really caring and nice towards me all the way through what was a painful experience.i would recommend anyone with back pain to see miss collins
I underwent emergency spinal surgery in March this year and found Miss Collins to be very helpful, informative and understanding. She explained the time sensitivity of my condition and I was prepped and in theatre within 12 hours of my initial arrival. I've undergone a further 2 operations since one by Mr Redfern and a third by Miss Collins.
I am very happy with the treatment I have received and found Miss Collins isn't scared to get her hands dirty like some, on more than one occasion choosing to change my dressing herself to get an idea on how I was healing rather than rely on others' feedback.
She has been and remains very supportive post op, in that if I need any information regarding the situation of my condition she will provide said information without hesitation. Thank you very much Miss Collins, had it not been for your fast actions I know I would be paralysed right now, best regards Jenni x
Miss Collins is very approachable, explains well what she is going to do and is very professional. She has a great personality and is respected by her patients and colleagues. I would certainly recommend her as she is an exceptional neuro Consultant.

Profile
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon with a full time NHS practice based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea. The Swansea- based spinal service geographically serves the population of South West Wales from Bridgend to Aberystwyth.
I grew up in Llantrisant, South Wales and I was educated through the Welsh language education system. I subsequently moved to London and graduated from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1996 with MBBS and BMedSci(Hons) degrees.
I completed my basic surgical training in 1997 in Oxford, gaining my MRCS certification. I then pursued orthopaedic specialisation firstly in New Zealand and then Scotland, before commencing a 6 year orthopaedic training rotation back in Oxford in 2002.
In 2006, following my FRCS(Orth) examinations, I chose to sub-specialise my further training purely in spinal surgery. My spinal fellowships were based in Oxford, Nottingham and Sydney, Australia, totalling two years.
I returned from Sydney in 2008 to take up my first consultant position at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. The opportunity to be a founding member of the newly-opened spinal unit in Swansea brought me back to my homeland of South Wales in 2011.
I have experience of delivering fully comprehensive spinal care, from cervical spine to sacrum. I offer clinical consultations, spinal expert witness services, spinal surgery, spinal injections and spinal cementing procedures along with appropriate aftercare. I have experience of spinal problems relating to physical training having been a keen sportswoman (Women’s captain St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Rowing Club, member of Lea Rowing club, Women’s vice-captain St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Squash club and member of Bicester Hockey club while training in Oxford).
